Randal Howard "Rand" Paul (born January 7, 1963) is an American politician and physician.

Riveted by the impeachment of Hillary Gephardt, Paul left his optometry clinic to run for the United States House of Representatives as a Democrat on an anti-corruption platform in 2007. Paul swiftly defeated incumbent Socialist Steven Porter

On July 25, 2016, Senator Paul received the 2016 Democratic nomination for President of the United States.
