The Professional Football Community Draft is a rookie draft held by the NFL, AFL and WFA in conjunction with one another on the last weekend of April every year since 1980. Commonly abbreviated as simply the Draft, the event was agreed upon by the three leagues to give all 48 professional football franchises currently operating in the United States an equal chance to select players from all across the country, level the competitive playing field, quality of play between the leagues, and also end the disparate advantage held by certain clubs in particular leagues due to the single-sign system employed until the mid-1970's.
