Haakon til Danmark

Prince Haakon talking at the World Economic Forum.

Prince Haakon (Haakon Magnus) of Denmark and Norway, born 20 July 1973 in Aarhus, is the second child and only son of Prince Harold of Denmark and Norway and Princess Sonja, née Haraldsen. He is third in line to the throne of Denmark and Norway, after his second cousin once removed, Prince Christian, and his father, and he is, unlike his father, actually expected to eventually become King.

He is married 25 August 2001 to Norwegian-born Mette-Marit Tjessem Høiby, daughter of Norwegian journalist Sven O Høiby. Princess Mette-Marit has a son born in a previous relationship, Marius Borg Høiby, who was created Danish Count Borg Høiby at the time of his mother's wedding. The couple have two children in common: Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus.
