president Wayne

John Wayne (Born Marion Morrison) was a California senator, former actor, and president of the United States from 1961-1969

John Wayne entered politics after World War II ended, taking a hard stance against Communism. He criticized the Democratic Party of being "soft" on Communism and was a vocal supporter of the Commitee against Un-American Activities which actors were being questioned.

In 1948, Wayne ran for the Republican ticket for the presidency, but was defeated by Thomas Dewey, who lost to President Truman although the newspaers stated "DEWEY DEFEATS TRUMAN!". Wayne supported America entering the Korean War to prevent Communism from spreading to Asia. He tried again in 1952 for president but was defeated by General Dwight Eisenhower, who also won the 1956 election, but Wayne avidly supported the cause, except when Senator McCarthy falsely accused many politicians of Communism.
