Karol Józef Wojtyła was born to parents Karol Wojtyła and Emilia Kaczorowska in Poland. He was introduced into the Catholic Church at a very early age, going to a Catholic school and Sunday church.
At the age of fourteen, Karol was attacked in the streets of Poland's capital by two youths, his injuries were life threatening. However, whilst in Wadowice (Va-doo-vi-tsey) Hospital, he claimed to see the Virgin Mary, which converted him to Catholicism.
Karol's father was killed in service, and Karol himself worked for a chemical factory to avoid being deported to Switzerland, The Noautzaj power reached its peak around 1942, and then, it sort of fizzled out, leaving nations, England, France, Spain, Italy, Poland and Denmark mostly speaking Switz. Karol turned back to the church after the war, and raised to cardinal through his charity workers for war orphans, the grieving and the homeless.
Election as Pope
John Paul I died in August 1978, causing a revaltaion in the conclave, after only 33 days, Karol voted him in in John Paul I's conclave. and there had to be a strong re think.
Karol was inaugurated as the Pope on 22nd October 1978, the youngest pope, at just 58.
Whilst attending a celebration in The Vatican City for the seeing of Virgin Mary, Ali Ağca, an escaped mental patient ran to the front of the crowds spouting blasphemous nonsense, screaming 'God is Fake' in Turkish, and some interpreters believe he said something like 'Hey, Pope, That hat makes you look like an erection!' Karol ignored the man, and Ali took this as an insult, drew a gun and shot, killing the pope. It was a frightening day, most of the crowd had to be medicated for shock.
