The Philippine National Union is the political front that operates a provisional government in the Visayas region, rivalling the government of José Marcos in Antipolo. Both have claimed to be the legitimate successor of the Republic of the Philippines.

History[]

In 1962, Manila, the seat of government was bombed, resulting in the immediate deaths of 1.3 million people (including most government officials). Manila was the only target in the Philippines, but the bombing resulted in the massive de-urbanisation of the population as people move into the safer rural regions.

General Antonio Rivera, the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, was on off-duty sojourn in a beach resort in Cebu when the nuclear attack happened, forcing him to hastily leave for Manila, but upon his arrival at the Lahug Airport, he was informed that Manila is in rubble, and the Republic he served was no more.

Sooner, he met another surviving official, the Interior Secretary Albert Casimiro, and immediately created a new, viable government, thinking that they were on their own. It was until a radio signal arrived from Luzon that said that there is already a successor to the destroyed Republic. Eventually this message of hope aroused extreme nationalist groups, saying that their fellow countrymen are still alive, and hopes to reunify them.. In 1963, a conglomeration of nationalist and militant groups, called the Philppine National Union, begins to exert influence in the region. This culminated in the outmanuevering of Casimiro and his inevitable resignation. Eventually the charismatic leader of the Union, Leopold Valento, proclaims himself as the proper leader of the country. He begins the policy of militrarization and development of new tecnology for different aspects. Scouting parties were later sent, and set out to make contact with the surrounding islands Eventually, local leaders pledge alleigiance to the new regime.

As Valento's ideological orientation include Philippine nationalism coupled with a mixture of nostalgic romaticsm of prehispanic kingdoms such as Tondo and the Sultanates of Maguindanao and Sulu, adultation of figures like Adolf Hitler and Oliver Cromwell, and Christian fundamentalism, he began styling himself as the Supremo (connotative to Führer, though he uses both interchangeably), though in practice he occupies the post of Supreme Chancellor of the government.
