The Philadelphia Convention of 1787 resulted in changes the the Articles of Confederation that made the United States a stronger nation, though not as much as many Americans wanted.

Among the changes made was the dividing of Congress into two houses (House of Representatives and Senate), and added powers for Congress and the President. A federal Judiciary was also created by the convention.
