Peter John Mead (born August 2, 1945) is an American politician who served as the Governor of Huron from 1987 until 1991 and is best known as a member of the prominent Mead family of Huron, being the son of two-time Governor and later Commerce Secretary and Ambassador to Portugal John Mead, and as the cousin of Patrick Mead, a successor as Governor of Huron and 2008 Nationalist Presidential nominee. Mead unsuccessfully ran for a second term as Governor in 1994, losing to Democrat Cheryl Stephens, and similarly failed to secure Huron's Senate seat in 1996 and 2000. He is currently the senior partner at Yorktown-based political consulting firm Mead & Partners, a spinoff of a Washington, D.C.-based firm he worked at in the late 1990s called FirstAction Associates.
