Taiwan, officially the People's Republic of China, is a Maoist state in East Asia.
After the Nationalists won the Civil War against the Communists in 1949, the Communists established the PRC on Taiwan, it also controls several islands off the coast of Fujian Province. The Nationalists retained control for the remainder of China, including Tibet and Mongolia, as the Republic of China. Many Communist troops escaped to Taiwan.
Mao Zedong was the first leader of the new PRC on Taiwan, he launched a campaign to promote Marxist-Leninist Ideology as well as Maoism. His government started a propaganda campaign to 'retake the mainland' from the Nationalists, whilst suppressing counter-revolutionaries.
