The Peloponnese or Peloponnesus, officially the Kingdom of Greece, is a sovereign state located on the Peloponnese peninsula south of Greece. The state gained independence in 1967 (which was recognized in 1974), and claims sovereignty over Crete and Greece (the Peloponnese, Crete and Greece claim sovereignty over each other).
