The Peace of Brussels ended the first French Republican War in 1772.

Peace conditions[]

All the German lands west of the Rhine were annexed by France, plus the lands of Berg and Baden at the right bank. This meant the end as independent states for:

German states that suffered territorial losses:

Other states that ceded territory to France:

  • Spain (all the lands north of the Ebro)
  • Switzerland (French-speaking Switzerland, and the Alsace)
  • Savoy (core Savoy and Nice)

In addition, Switzerland was neutralized again (and practically became a French satellite).
