The Palmero Agreement was a deal signed between the Turkish commander in Sicily, Oruc Reis, and the de jure French Duke of Sicily. It was signed in the citidel at Palmero in early 1526.
Nature of the Agreement
- Turkish forces withdraw from Sicily, and renounce all claims to the island and surrounding archipeligo, except for Malta
- The Island of Malta and all property therein is ceded to the Ottoman Empire
- The Ottoman Empire pays the Kingdom of France a sum of 80,000 Ducats
