The Pahlavian Empire (also known as Pahlavid, Mihranid or Fourth Persian Empire), was the last Iranian empire before the rise of the Turkic invasions of Middle East, ruled by the Pahlavian dynasty from 650 CE to 1059 CE. The Pahlavian Empire, which succeeded the Sasanian Empire, was recognized as the main power from its foundation to the second half of the 9th century. From then, the Pahlavian Empire began a strong decadence which led to the division of the empire. At the beginning of the 11th century the Pahlavian Empire only ruled in Mesopotamia and Northeastern Arabia and it disappeared when the Seljukian Turks conquered the royal city of Ctesiphon in 1059.
