Osama bin Laden

Osama bin Laden (March 10, 1957 - September 13, 1989) was a Saudi terrorist leader, mostly active in Afghanistan during the 1980s.

Born into a millionaire Saudi family, bin Laden studied in prestigious schools, and earned degrees in civil engineering and public administration. He began to actively participate in fights in Afghanistan, after he joined a training program by the CIA, which goal was to train volunteers in the Muslim world to fight against the Soviet oppression of Afghanistan. During the 1980s, bin Laden participated in several terrorist groups in anti-Soviet fights.

In 1989, he, along with his and other groups was captured when the USSR began its heavy counterattack policy in Afghanistan to stabilize their reign, and later executed.
