This timeline gives a possible answer to what would have happened if Winston Churchill and Harry Truman had accepted Joseph Stalin's request of an Allied invasion of Spain in revenge for the presence of Spanish volunteer military units in Operation Barbarossa. In 1953, a Communist revolution overthrows the democratic Third Spanish Republic and Spain becomes the Federative Socialist Republic of Spain. In the end, Spain gets balkanized in the nineties, dissolving into several independent nations.
