Novum Saeculum, or New Age in Latin is a game that starts in the Middle Ages, a time of conflict and chaos. These times were plagued by war, and people were kept in the dark about the world around them. Europe was ruled by religion, and was divided by small tribes scattering the area. No one country was able to rise above the other. But in the light of a new age, you are forced to take charge and move above the other players. Forced to fight against the other feudal kingdoms, you have to try to become the world's first power. Take charge against them, before you fade into obscurity. Welcome to Novum Saeculum.

NOVUM SAECULUM HAS STARTED!

Rules

While there will be other pages for more detailed rules for different applications of the game, here are the basic rules of the game that everyone should keep in mind:

  • The main goal of these rules are to keep the game realistic. Every turn must be plausible and no one can achieve world domination in ten turns,
  • A turn is one day. Each turn is composed of actions, which can be militaristic, economic, diplomatic or constructive.
  • Turns begin at 17:00 UTC. You have one hour after this to edit the turn immediately before. Other past turns may not be edited.
  • Any conquered lands have their inhabitants, and they must be dealt with.
  • Keep in mind the linguistic effects of conquering and colonisation.
  • Every three years a map is to be made. A moderator marked as the Mapmaker will edit the map.
  • Every map must be saved as a .png on the current map template.
  • Each player will "call" a nation, this will be their main nation.
  • The moderators of this game have the power to grant and regulate all technology for each state as well as regulate plausibility. They also have the right to create random yet plausible and fair events in any and every nation throughout the course of the game.
  • Espionage is allowed and will be detailed later, there is a clear distinction between espionage and meta-gaming.
  • Alliances and unions are allowed as is bargaining to achieve these, although remember to be plausible.
  • If a nation is inactive then it is considered to have become isolationist and is fair game for conquering and attacking. However, there will be resistance.
  • There are supernational confederations (e.g., The Holy Roman Empire, The Kalmar Union, The European Union, The African Union, etc). They function like alliances and can be broken and formed.
  • You can commission privateers to raid a nation's shipping but they will reduce relations with the nation you hired them against.
  • The game ends in the present year.
  • Profile pages for your state are highly recommended.
  • If you are new, you may start the game in the turn that you joined.
  • No editing any past turns to contradict events which have already happened.
  • Not everyone can have an industrialized, liberal, stable, peaceful nation.
  • Each player is allowed one switch from their current nation to a new one. Other than that, nation switching is not allowed unless your nation is annexed or destroyed by war.
  • Moderators act as junior admins, all they can do is cross out years and comment on them. If abused, they may be impeached.
  • A turn will last two years until 1560. When 1560 is reached, there will be one-year turns for the remainder of the game.

The Game

1100-1101

The game has begun. Look to your defenses and cover your weaknesses, even as you seek to exploit those of your foes.

Just as a reminder to people playing, I am a mod in this game, even though I am not playing as a nation. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to ask. -MP

Don't you all think we need players in Middle East and North Africa in particular? I think the Crusades are the main thing at the moment, and the lack of Muslim nations such as Fatimids, Turks and Almoravids would make it really boring and one-sided. -Rimp

Cusco is founded in western South America.

The population of China reaches about 100 million.

Checkers is invented.

Henry I is crowned King of England.

  • Great Seljuk Empire: The stagnant decline of the Seljuk Empire continued, as the nation was ruled by the relatively inexperienced Sultan Barkiyuraq Shah who engaged mostly in past times and relaxation. The relative weak position of the Emperor, and the vulnerable state of the Empire however did not demoralize the nobles who sought to develop the cities of Baghdad, Kufa, Rey and the capital of Isfahan; in particular and therefore spent most of their time in aiming at establishing various universities as well as construct and upgrade the relatively poor infrastructure present. The capital of Isfahan therefore continued to flourish, and also tended to attract thousands from the Empire; therefore reducing the lack of a labour force at the Capital. Meanwhile, the Governors of Khorasan and Baghdad heavily funded the military to a critical extent as they sought to establish a strong force capable of repulsing any advance by the enemy and also built fortresses and walls. The Governor of Kuwait took particular interest in setting up a fleet of 300 ships as he felt there was a need to protect the maritime trade that the Seljuk engaged in, as well as to keep Kuwait's fishing and pearl economy safe. Along the same time, the Shi'ite Muslims were prohibited from forcefully converting anyone and the Emperor engaged in quarrels with his brother, Prince Ahmad Sanjar.
  • Byzantine Empire: After the military success of Alexios I in recent decades, the empire decides to start asserting their gains. The empire aims on making the cities of the Sea of Marmara and the Aegean Sea economic centres, thus increasing economy. Military is increased while being maintained to a sufficient extent due to the danger of several hostile neighbors. The Navy continue to train, practice and learn new techniques as they are discovered, still using the wonder of Greek fire. Ships are built at a substantial rate, enough to not plunge the navy into an economic disaster. We erect defences and fortresses along the Empire's borders, particularly aside the Turkish Sultanate. The Capital, Constantinople, continues to flourish under the empire. The Emperor also starts to focus on Greece, sending financial aid to the cities of Athens and Corinth. Integration of the Serbs and Bulgars into the empire begin. Hate amongst the Normans start, due to their conquests of Byzantine lands in Italy. The religious influence of the Orthodox church starts to focus on central and eastern Europe.
  • Novgorod Republic: We build up our military, and expand as far into Scandinavia as we can for the year. Our army is supposedly one of the best in the Rus, and are being further trained each and every day. Our capital grows, while it is expanding at a higher rate than it normally does.
  • Japan: Expands military and economy. Horikawa is our emperor. He has two wives, Tokushi and Reishi. A lot of work goes into unifying Japan. We start fishing. A few Shinto shrines are built. A trade agreement is offered to Goryeo. The military is built up, and the Samurai are a large part of the army.
    • Goryeo: We agree
  • Kingdom of Chimor: The Kingdom sees the rise of a new king who is an interesting mix of Quechua and Chimu in terms of culture but maintains legitimacy in terms of the Royal line through being the only son of the previous King. This, however, gives King Tacaynamo (named after the kingdoms founder) the needed legitimacy to begin a campaign of aggressive expansion down the coast (1000 sq km) which is used to acquire more fertile territory. Much of this Territory is filled with Quechua speakers who are integrated with a bit of coersion as well as offers to make their lives better. With multiple cities being around (not very large) these are integrated with promises of protection and advancement within the Chimor Kingdom. The King himself however leads an expedition to crush a challenging city and after a brutal seige manages to subjugate the city. The Chimor however sees a relatively low level of technological improvement but the melting and smithing of gold shows promising signs. The Chimu nation begins an ambitious project to further irrigate their homeland to produce more food.
  • Kingdom of Scotland: Scotland builds up the Scottish military, the economy expands. King Karaman giving Scotland for an expansion of 150 sq km up the coast.
    • The name of the king at the time was named Edgar , I've crossed out Karaman for now. Try to use culturally Scottish names. -Josh
  • Brunei consolidates its control over Northern Borneo. Following an assassination attempt on the King by a resident Muslim, the King, who and been drifting closer to Islam, officially rejects it. His subjects, seeking to avoid government displeasure, follow suit, and conversion rates plummet, with the Kingdom's few Muslims converting to Buddhism or Hinduism. The navy is built up to protect Brunei's status as a trade centre, while Iban is declared the official language. Iban script flourishes, while more and more of the interior is brought under Bruneian control. Many chieftains see the opportunity for wealth through trade and voluntarily attach themselves to the Kingdom, which expands south along the coast and inland. The army grows, while large-scale fishing and rice farming ensure the kingdom has a large food supply. The King places strict limits on logging to avoid erosion which has been damaging fields in recent years.
  • Kingdom of Aragon starts to improve the army and explore the resources of the main land, we change our name to Kingdom of Catalonia and we build more ships. We declare war on the Muslims to convert the Islamic regions into Catholic regions. Catalan is declared official language and we give autonomy to Andorra. We ask to Leon if he wants alliance to defeat the Islamics
  • Kingdom of Denmark: The military and economy are built up. (More to come later).
  • Kingdom of England: Infantry levies are developed by all the vassals in the realm. Similarly, tax levies are developed as well, and the English crown begins evolving a complex bureaucracy for the sole purpose of better taxation. In London, Henry I, aged 32, is crowned as King of England upon the death of his father, William II. Unfortunately, the Duchy of Normandy is held by Henry's brother, Robert. Attempts to take control of the Duchy in the 1090s, such as purchasing the County of Cotentin, resulted in a failure for the then Prince Henry. Now as King, Henry I aims to soon take full control of Normandy. Henry I also sets his eyes upon the Duchies of Brittany and Anjou. In royal news, Henry I declares his intent to marry, and any eligible Christian bride is acceptable.
    • Duchy of Normandy: Infantry levies are developed by all the vassals in the realm. Similarly, tax levies are developed as well. Robert III, aged 49, rules as Duke of Normandy, and is well aware of the fact that his suzerain King, Henry I, desires his realm. Robert III has his eyes on the Duchy of Anjou, and may convince Henry I to vassalize the realm. Robert III declares his intent to marry, and any eligible Christian bride is acceptable.
  • Hungary: The king's first son Stephen is born. We ask the Byzantine empire for an alliance. We build up the military of the nation. We start to build walls and outposts around the capital city Esztergom. The kings wife dies do to an assassination attempt. So, the king asks Croatia for a royal marriage, since the king needs a new wife.
    • Byzantine Empire: We accept.
  • Kingdom of Gwynedd: The Kingdom of Gwynedd builds up its army and navy significantly, with almost all able-bodied males being drafted, only those who are essential to producing vital resources such as crops and ore are exempt. The naval forces are stationed around the Isle of Mann and the English South Wales vassal, pirating any ships coming in and out of harbor and pillaging their resources. The army forces are almost all exclusively stationed on the border with England, with the majority being focused on the English South Wales vassal. Emissaries are sent to the Scottish Crown requesting an alliance, and also to open discussions on how to deal with the growing power of the English Crown. A one-time offer is sent to the English Crown requesting the release of the English South Wales vassal to the Kingdom of Gwynedd, if this is done it will open the way for profitable and positive negotiations between our two states.
    • Scottish Diplomacy: We accept.
  • Song Dynasty: With a brand new century gracing the Song Dynasty, and the new century bringing hope to the people and nobles that the nation will continue to prosper and lead as the example for Asian nations. The Emperor Huizong and his advisors begin making claim to the Xixia Dynasty to take back the land and reunite the peoples of China under the Song Dynasty. With the plan devised the Song begin preparing and training their army, hiring craftsmen and smiths to help build weaponry, also Huizong advises the nobles to offer and incentive to those that join the army willingly. We send diplomats to the kingdoms of Japan and Goryeo and offer trade offers to both nations to help expand and increase not only Song's economy, but also the Japanese and Goryeons. The Song begin sending various trade ships around the Eastern Asian region in hopes of opening up new trade ventures in Indochina and improving the Song economy.
    • Japanese Dip: Accepted
    • Brunei: Offers trade to the Song.
  • Country of Barcelona changes its name to Kingdom of Catalonia and begins to improve its economy and military. To seek more alliances, Catalonia asks Leon for an alliance and trade. Some farms are built, roads are improved and cities are upgraded. Population begins to grow faster as one million people added every ten years. In response to Aragon changing its name, Catalonia declares war on Aragon and starts Catalan Unification War.
    • Can somebody fix this stuff? I'm not a mod, so I can't.
    • That is an unrealistic population growth rate, and an unrealistic reason for a unification war. You also don't have a claim to the throne of Catalonia as of now. -Josh
  • Norway: There are attempts to establish formal relations with Denmark and Sweden. Some improvements in the navy but not much. Peasants revolt in the southwest pushing for a Parliament like in Iceland.
  • Angu Tribe: The tribe begins to centralize under the leadership of the new chieftain. Known for their raider-like qualities, the Angu are feared among the other tribes. They do however, offer the four clans of the Zia tribe peace if they bow to the Angu tribe and become part of them.
  • Kingdom of Connanaught: Tadhg Mór Ua Cellaigh begins upgrading his Kingdoms military to start his dream of the unification of all Irish Kingdoms. He offers up his son for marriage to the Kingdom of Meath to unify the two Kingdoms. Along with this upgrades are made to the economy by forcing teams of farmers to work together on each valley instead of the usual family farming methods used before. He offers trade to the Kingdom of Munster and Leinster.
    • Kingdom of Gwynedd Diplomacy: We extend an alliance to the Kingdom of Connaught, as well as open discussions on how to deal with the growing power of the English Crown.
    • Connaught Dip: We gladly accept this alliance and offer trade and promise to send men in you are ever attacked.
  • Goryeo: Economy and military are improved. Explorers are sent north of Goryeo.

1102-1103

The troops of the Almoravid ruler, Yusuf ibn Tashfin, besiege Valencia.

Along the same time, the Shi'ite Muslims were prohibited from forcefully converting anyone and the Emperor engaged in quarrels with his brother, Prince Ahmad Sanjar who sought to overthrow his brother and establish his own control over the state. Soon with the declining health of the Emperor, his brother Ahmad Sanjar attempted a coup d'etat.
We start to aim our forces into the Balkans. We also start to influence the Pechnegs to the north to a minor extent.
  • Hungary: We Thank the Byzantine empire for accepting our alliance. We continue to build up the military of the nation. We continue to build walls and outposts around the capital city Esztergom. The king asks Croatia again for a royal marriage, since the king needs a new wife. The presence of Jewish and Muslim merchants in the kingdom was due to its role as a crossroad of trading routes leading towards Constantinople, Regensburg and Kiev. Local trade also existed, which enabled Coloman to collect the marturina, the traditional in-kind tax of Slavonia, in cash. We ask Kiev for an alliance.
  • Almoravid Empire: Yusaf ibn Tashfin, hero of the Almoravid people, begins making reforms on the military. He also spends on building up the ports and increasing trade throughout the Mediterranean, bringing in wealth to the nation. We continue our crusade against the people of Valencia, in order to gain back territory of the old Caliphate of Cordoba. Slave trade of Africans continues.
  • Kingdom of Scotland: Edgar is the leader of Kingdom of Scotland (not Karaman). The military continues to be built up. The outposts and bunkers built in Glasgow, Edinburgh. Ships has been built, also the economy expanding.
  • Kingdom of Gwynedd: The army and navy continues to be built up significantly, with any remaining able-bodied males not already drafted, being drafted, with only those who are essential to producing vital resources such as crops and ore being exempt once again. The naval forces of the Kingdom of Gwynedd spread out off the coast of the mainland of the Jarldom of Orkney and throughout their islands. An emissary is landed and sent to meet the Jarl. He brings a simple message: "Become a vassal under the Kingdom of Gwynedd, or face destruction. You are well aware of our new allies in Scotland and Connaught, and therefore know that this is within our capabilities". The Jarl surveys the court, looking to his citizens, and his family, and asks a simple questions: "Will my citizens be safe?". To which the emissary replies to the affirmative. At this point the Jarl stands, and pledges his allegiance to the Gwynedd Crown. The Jarldom of Orkney becomes a vassal under the Kingdom of Gwynedd as a result. The naval forces stationed around the Isle of Mann are therefore recalled as a result. The English South Wales vassal continues to be placed under pressure from the pirating of any ships coming in and out of harbor and the pillaging of their resources. The army forces stationed on the border with England are reinforced greatly with the influx of troops from the build up and the integration of the Jarldom's military. Defensive walls begin to be built, and forts placed at strategic locations across the border. The one time offer sent to the English Crown last year is sent again, requesting the release of the English South Wales vassal to the Kingdom of Gwynedd, if this is done it will open the way for profitable and positive negotiations between our two states.
    • Jarldom of Orkney: Teachers of the Welsh language are sent to the Jarl's court, and before the end of the year, everyone in his court is well versed in the language, making it the language of the elite in the Jarldom. The Jarldom's military is integrated into the Gwynedd military.
  • Kingdom of Chimor: The Kingdom sees the rise of a new king who is an interesting mix of Quechua and Chimu in terms of culture but maintains legitimacy in terms of the Royal line through being the only son of the previous King. This however gives King Tacaynamo (named after the kingdoms founder) the needed legitimacy to begin a campaign of aggressive expansion down the coast (1000 sq km) which is used to acquire more fertile territory. Much of this Territory is filled with Quechua speakers who are integrated with a bit of coersion as well as offers to make their lives better. The Chimor Kingdom begins an aggressive campaign to put down a revolting city of Quechua speakers just outside the Chimors original borders. The Revolt gains ground at first but after 10,000 Chimor troops arrive they put down the revolt in an immensely brutal fashion killing the entire cities royalty and aristocracy and replacing it with an ethnically Chimor Aristocracy. The remaining territories and cities are integrated with a Chimu aristocracy to a lesser extent but it has become known to the various surrounding areas that the Chimu people are powerful, they will respect tradition and culture, but they will not deal with rebellion.
  • Harapunchai: The kingdom's military undergoes reorganization and bolstering, such as greater centralization and more directly serving the king. Jade and ruby mines are built across the state, helping fuel the economy. As a result of this extra stimulus the capital of Haripunjaya becomes a small but growing trade hub in the region, attracting many merchants searching for jems. The development and new canals and waterways begin.
    • Harapunchai Diplomacy: We send diplomats to the Song and Khmer empires, as well as Brunei. The king hopes for harmonious relations based off of trade, Harapunchai offering exotic goods such as tiger skins, ivory, and gems.
    • Brunei accepts.
  • Brunei continues to expand its navy and military significantly, seeking to reinforce its position as a trade centre. Sandalwood, exotic feathers, and more practical trade goods like lumber, metals and food pass through Brunei's ports. New warships, larger than previous ones, are constructed, crewed by Iban and Sea Dayaks with experience in piracy. The army continues to be recruited to expand, especially from inland tribes, many of which accept Bruneian rule. The Kingdom expands 1000 km south along the coast. The navy and Dayaks along the coast are encouraged to secretly attack Srivrijayan shipping, with the King hoping to undermine its mercantile dominance to Brunei's benefit. Influence, both mercantile and cultural, is exerted on the South Bornean state. The King offers to marry its King's daughter (Mod Response).
  • Goryeo: Goryeo sees the Song Dynasty as a threat to East Asian Trade and Expansion. Trade with Japan continues.
  • Kingdom of Connaught: The King begins the first step in unifying Ireland by leading an invasion into the Western half of the Kingdom of Meath with 10,000 men after they fail to return any message from their diplomats. A messenger is sent to the Kingdom of Leinster asking for the princess to marry the Kings son and join the Kingdom of Connaught against the growing power of England and Normandy. (Mod Response) In Galway a navy begins to be built for protection of the coast from any who wish to harm the Kingdom. In the valleys of the Kingdom themselves the Queen regent begins a breeding program to rear better war horses for fighting in battles to come. She also sends an ambassador to the Kingdom of Scotland for trade and alliance whilst asking for territory in Skye for a naval base on the eastern side of Ireland. (I'm not sure who owns Skye atm...have I got the wrong person)
    • Skye is within the Jarldom of Orkney, a vassal to the Kingdom of Gwynedd.
    • In which case...The Queen Regent asks the Kingdom of Gwynedd for Skye as a naval base to strengthen their alliance in exchange for a shipment of war horses in 1110. The alliance with Scotland is still on the table.
    • Kingdom of Gwynedd Diplomacy: Even though the Kingdom of Gwynedd wishes for a long and fruitful alliance with the Kingdom of Connaught, we do not wish to compromise our territorial sovereignty, even for an ally, so we regretfully decline. However we declare war, along with our vassal the Jarldom of Orkney, on the Kingdom of Meath to aid our ally, with the goal of securing the eastern half of the Kingdom for Gwynedd.
    • Connaught Dip: We are rather sad over this matter as the reason for invading Meath was to gain a border on the eastern side of Ireland for easy ship access if ever needing to send men to Wales to defend our new ally along with the idea of uniting all of the IRISH kingdoms who share a common ancestry ... with Gwynedd invading still from the East this may no longer be possible. We ask if Skye is still unavailable we could at least have the town of Dublin to turn into a seaport for naval ships on the eastern side of Ireland.
  • Kingdom of England: Infantry levies are developed by all the vassals in the realm. Similarly, tax levies are developed as well, and the English crown begins evolving a complex bureaucracy for the sole purpose of better taxation. In London, Henry I, aged 33, is crowned as King of England upon the death of his father, William II, in 1100. King Henry begins pressuring the Duke of Anjou for homeage and fealty (Turn One out of Two). In royal news, Henry I petitions the King of Gwynedd for a royal marriage. He also informs the Welsh King that if Gwynedd aids England in any campaign in France or Scotland, South Wales will be released to Gwynedd.
    • Kingdom of Gwynedd Diplomacy: The King of Gwynedd accepts the offer of the King of England. Promising to come to the aid of England in any campaign against Scotland or France. We now await the transfer of sovereignty of South Wales from England to the Kingdom of Gwynedd.
    • English Dip: King Henry, by royal decree, promises that South Wales will be released to Gwynedd by mid-century.
    • Duchy of Normandy: Infantry levies are developed by all the vassals in the realm. Similarly, tax levies are developed as well. Robert III, aged 50, rules as Duke of Normandy, and is well aware of the fact that his suzerain King, Henry I, desires his realm. Robert III has his eyes on the Duchy of Anjou, and may convince Henry I to vassalize the realm. Robert III marries Alyx of Brittany.
  • Kingdom of Denmark: Military and Economy are built up.
  • Tolec Empire: Expansion to the south east begins.
  • Song Dynasty: The Song continue to build up and prepare their army for the impending invasion of Xixia, the current army stands at 100,000 total troops, the largest standing army in Chinese history and in the world according to the current emperor. Along with the growing and training army, the emperor orders mathematicians to help smiths and architects to help in the building of siege equipment to be used in the capture of Xixian cities. With the need to move the troops through the large kingdom, the Song begin building up and improving the current road system within the kingdom. We accept Brunei's trade offer and continue to send trade treaties to Goryeo and other Asian nations. With the open trade in Asia open up through our navy, it helps the Song improve its current economy.
We have a total army force of 60.000 total troops.

1104-1105

Sultan Kilij Arslan I of Sultanate of Rüm starts a war with the Danishmends.

  • Great Seljuk Empire: The stagnant decline of the Seljuk Empire took a sudden halt, with the death of Sultan Barkiyuraq Shah and the ascension of Sultan Ahmad Sanjar to the throne. The new Emperor restricted the growing power of the nobles with haste, although he continued to follow their policies and was keen on developing the cities of Baghdad, Kufa, Rey and the capital of Isfahan. Therefore, large sum of the Imperial Treasury was spent on establishing various universities as well as construct and upgrade the relatively poor infrastructure present in order bring forth a period of Renaissance. This was also followed with the establishment of a Court of Justice which would inflict severe punishments for various crimes ranging from theft, bribery, adultery etc. The Governor of Kuwait took particular interest in setting up a fleet of 300 ships as he felt there was a need to protect the maritime trade that the Seljuk engaged in, as well as to keep Kuwaits fishing and pearl economy safe. The Emperor had foreseen the need to protect the frontiers of the Seljuks, and thus he started to send missionaries to spread Seljuk culture towards Anatolia and Khorasan. Attempts were made to influence the various Kingdoms that existed to the West of the Great Seljuk Empire and formed a natural barrier between the Arabs and the Seljuks.
Ships are built at a subtansial rate, enough to not plunge the navy into an economic disaster. We erect defences and fortresses along the Empire's borders, perticularly aside the Turkish Sultanate. We start to aim our forces into the Balkans. We also start to influence the Pechnegs to the north to a minor extent.
  • Kingdom of Scotland: Scottish military expands also economy. The alliance with Kingdom of Connaught is still on the table, but Edgar is sure of accepting Kingdom of Connaught's alliance.

  • Brunei continues to enforce mercantile and cultural dominance over the South Bornean state, with Bruneian merchants seizing much of tis trade through their more advanced ties with regional powers like China and Harapunchai. The Bruneian King pressures it to accept vassalage, and it is expected to accept after a further year of pressure. To allow faster flow of trade.
  • Leon: we begin fortifying the south deeply in order to avoid any attempt by the Muslims to recapture or sack our territories, we also begin drafting several troops in order to press deeper into their territory and begin influencing Navarre, for the time being it allies with both Aragon and Barcelona, we agree on the Aragonian offer to invade the Muslim domains but we considere that it is better to wait and prepare the eventual invasion rather than invade right away, considering it a rash action that would end up with the destruction of the local armies, and recklessly invading a stronger foe isn't wise, we recommend several years of military build up and we wish to ask Barcelona and Aragon to discuss their disagreements in a negotiation table rather than warring each other (and making themselves easy pray for the Heathens in our south), Military navy economy and infrastructure are built up.
    • Castile: We build up our military as do the leonese, drafting several armies from across the country, navy and economy are built up by allowing fisherman and traders to cross the country and rising somewhat taxation.

In London, Henry I, aged 34, is crowned as King of England upon the death of his father, William II, in 1100. King Henry begins pressuring the Duke of Anjou for homeage and fealty (Turn Two out of Two). After the vassalization of Anjou is concluded, Henry I turns his eyes towards Brittany, and begins vassalizing the Duke of Brittany (Turn One out of Five) In royal news, Henry I marries Agnes of York, and by 1105 she gives birth to a son, whom is named Edmund.

New mines and pits are opened up in the west side of Meath along with new forges to improve the armys weapons. • Kingdom of Chimor: The Kingdom sees the rise of a new king who is an interesting mix of Quechua and Chimu in terms of culture but maintains legitimacy in terms of the Royal line through being the only son of the previous King. This however gives King Tacaynamo (named after the kingdom's founder) the needed legitimacy to begin a campaign of aggressive expansion down the coast (1000 sq km) which is used to acquire more fertile territory. Thanks to the unexpected alliance with the English and their promise to release South Wales to the Kingdom of Gwynedd in coming years, troops begin to be moved away from the border with England, and onto ships stationed off the east coast of Ireland.
  • Byzantine Empire: After the military success of Alexios I in recent decades, the empire decides to start asserting their gains. Military is increased while being maintained to a sufficient extent due to the danger of several hostile neighbors. The Navy continue to train, practice and learn new techniques as they are discovered, still using the wonder of Greek fire. Ships are built at a subtansial rate, enough to not plunge the navy into an economic disaster. We erect defences and fortresses along the Empire's borders, perticularly aside the Turkish Sultanate.

  • can't just say you have a piece of me, you would have to do an algo.
  • Eric, stop the name bullshit right here. You have been told several times.
  • Yes,  your current name is impossible, Barcelona is independent, you are the small state inland, and Aragon is the name of that region in Basque, you have to stay that way until something else happens (I.e conquest of Barcelona ergo Kingdom of Barcelona or Conquest of Saragossa ergo Kingdom of Zaragoza) Sine dei gloriem "Ex Initio Terrae" (talk), plus do the algo

Some members of the Fujiwara clan are angered by the decision to marry Toba to one of the Song, as it makes their power shrink. It has no immediate effect on their power however, and they still have great power.
