In 1941, Vietnam was a French colony and part of a larger Indochina. Japan invaded Vietnam, but pulled out in 1945 at the end of World War 2. After World War 2, they hoped to be independent, but France again invaded them. Unlike the OTL, the Communists opposed independence and the nationalists wanted independence. Also, the Nationalists were supported by the US, Australia and Great Britain. In 1954, the Communists and the French got tired of fighting, and surrendered. Ho Chi Minh was executed and a new country were born, A democratic South Vietnamese monarchy ruled by King Antione I. Without Ho Chi Minh, there was no Vietnam War and both nations co-operated to become developed countries by the year 1999, a feat that was accomplished.
