On December 7, 1941, Japanese air and naval forces bombed the U.S. Pacific fleet at Pearl Harbor, sinking or crippling much of the fleet, and killing nearly 1,282 servicemen. This event dragged the US into World War II, and led to the defeat of both Germany and Japan. What if Japan had not attacked Pearl Harbor?

Admiral Yamamoto, after an day of stress, sits in a room of a house in Tokyo. He begins to think about what would happen if the US were attacked, and referring to the defeat of Prussia, Mexico, England, Spain and the Confederacy. He did not want Japan to fall into that list. The next day, Yamamoto spent many hours consulting with his staff and decided not to go on with the plans to attack the US. Despite the anger in much of his staff, his decision was praised by Emperor Hirohito, as well as with the Peace Party in Japan.
Differences from OTL[]
- The Empire of Japan remains, and controls China, Indochina, the Korean Peninsula, Mongolia, and the Dutch East Indies.
- The United States remains in isolation, even though a superpower, and does not involve itself in foreign affairs of other countries, and only involves itself in affairs if asked too.
- Nazi Germany, Russia, the United States, and the Empire of Japan are engaged in a present Cold War.
- Technology in this TL is much farther along, due to the fact that Hitler spends a good deal of funds on technology.
- Australia and New Zealand are the only independent countries in the Pacific.
- The US owns many overseas territories such as Guam, Wake Island, Midway Island, and Taiwan under the Taiwan Purchase Agreement of 1967.
