Nikolai Galkin (born May 3, 1965) is a Russian billionaire, and is the primary owner of the American football team, the New York Warriors. After graduating from the Moscow Finance Institute, he worked in the financial sector and subsequently went on to become one of Russia's leading industrialists, owning major stakes in multinational corporations in the precious metals sector. While he was running Krasnoyarsk Nickel, the company became the world's largest producer of nickel and palladium. He is the chairman of Polyus Gold, Russia's largest gold producer, and the President of Onexim Group. As of 2014, Forbes estimates his wealth at $10.9 billion.
In 2016, Galkin voiced his opinion of current Russian president Anton Kharlakov and expressed interest in running against him in the Federal Election of 2018, if Kharlakov chooses to run for re-election. Galkin has speculated that in a potential run, it would be as an independent candidate. He has proposed the establishment of a new Russian political party called the "New Russia party" which would support a democratic socialist political platform and move away from Kharlakov's militarist and authoritative policies. Galkin claims that under his leadership if he were elected, he promises to build more roads, railroad tracks, and increase the Russian standard of living to the point of it being higher than the United States or the Scandinavian countries. He has stated that Russia should create a closer partnership for trade with the European Federation and the Asian countries. He has also stated that under his leadership, he would create more Russian investment in Africa in order to help develop the region as he sees it largely undeveloped and struggling to progress. He views any country that practices "non-democratic" or commits human rights abuses are a threat to Russia, he has specifically named many Middle Eastern nations as potential enemies.
Galkin has two children from a previous marriage, Ivan (born 1992) and Catherine (born 1993).
