New Wave was a pop music movement of the late New Elizabethan and early Caroline eras, which became contrasted with New Romanticism when the latter developed at the end of the Elizabethan era. It was a broad movement characterised by a loud, often somewhat aggressive style with guitars. It is also quite similar to Power Pop. Bands involved include Graduate, Starforce and Bazooka Joe. The name derives from the almost forgotten Punk movement of the mid-'70s.
