The United Provinces of New England, often called New England, is a Federal Constitutional Republic that spans the former New England region of the United States of America. Although never joining the United Kingdom after the War of 1812, New England retained cordial relations with Great Britain to this day. Currently, New England is the most economically stable nation on the planet, due to centuries of trading with European Powers and an ever growing mechanical industry.

History[]

Pre-War of 1812[]

New England was part of the original 13 American colonies, but ceased being important after America became independent from Great Britain.

War of 1812[]

Following James Madison refusing to accept the final version of the Treaty of Ghent, a new Hartford Convention is organized in 1817 as the war rages on. Once the navy was almost decimated, the Hartford Convention of 1817 won in favor of seceding from the United States in order to be free of increasingly oppressive American control and to be neutral in European conflicts.

Post-War of 1812[]

Alliance with Great Britain[]

Seeking to right the wrongs their old country had, New England sent representatives to the United Kingdom to create an economic and political alliance. After giving a reward of 100,000 NED ($10,000 USD) in 1820 to Great Britain, the country and their allies agreed to recognize New England. By 1829, New England had developed a political alliance with the British Empire, and by 1845, had developed a strong economic alliance.

Civil War[]

New England did not participate in intervening in the American Civil War, due to their policy of not getting involved in internal American conflicts. The New England Legislature originally offered to send arms shipments to the USA, but President Anson Morrill vetoed the decision.

Reconstruction[]

After France's intervention in the Civil War on the CSA's side, New England cut off relations with the country. New England, after receiving reports of the devastation, sent aid to both the USA and the CSA until 1875, when the country was on the verge of economic downturn due to the aid efforts.

Mormon Revolution[]

New England condemned the Mormon Revolution, calling it a violation of modern American territorial integrity.

World War I[]

For the first time, New England implemented the War Flag.

With the onset of World War I, the United States entered the war quickly. However, due to troop and food shortages, the country was forced to pull out from the front. With no support from American forces, casualties were far higher among the Entente and were far lower among the Central Powers. In 1922, World War I ended with an Entente victory after the United States, New England, and the CSA entered the war in an unlikely alliance that would never be seen again. This alliance was only formed after all three countries realized what would be at stake if the German Empire won the war.

World War II[]

Learning from the economic downturn caused by the First World War, America does not enter the war, even with the Pearl Harbor attack. New England, fearing Nazi Germany may become a fascist superpower, allies with Great Britain and the other Allied States against the Axis Powers. In 1946, after many long years of war, The Soviet Union, the United Kingdom, and New England begin developing nuclear missiles in the Estonian Soviet Socialist Republic (ESSR). By Late 1949, four megaton atomic bombs are ready for launch. In the same week, two bombs were dropped on Berlin and Munich, one on Hiroshima, and one in Florence.

With Hitler dead and entire cities in ruins, the Axis powers were forced to focus on the safety of their own people, and dissolved a few months later and World War II ended as of that point. A long period of reconstruction followed that lasted until 1972.

The Great North American War[]

After the Nuclear Bombing of Las Vegas and the subsequent 2001 Invasion of Nevada, New England stayed out of the American conflict. Instead, New England President Joshua Keyes convinced the Conservative Party-dominated House of Commons to invade New York while the United States if fighting another enemy, and claim the province as its own.

It is a wonder to this day how that order went through, as it only caused the downfall of the New English Military, which is still recovering to this day.

Invading New York in a surprise attack was surprisingly easy, however, occupying the capital of New York City was not. Reserve troops in the USA were instead sent to New York to drive out New England, rather than being sent to fight in Nevada. New England's Military was reduced 90% in the often week-long battles that followed, most notably the Battle of Albany, the Battle of Buffalo, and the final Battle of New York City, which dispatched the final troops in an air raid that almost destroyed the area around Times Square. The final troops left New York on February 3, 2004.

Joshua Keyes was later forced to resign amid the scandal that killed so many innocent lives, and was acquitted of war crimes during the Battle of Albany. He has been sentenced to two life sentences, with a small chance of parole. He has yet to be pardoned.

A new Liberal Party-dominated House of Commons has directed the Military GDP to Healthcare, future Space Exploration, et cetera. Although the number of people joining the military is rising, New England still works to make amends with practically every country on earth in order to avoid another war.
