Negros, officially the Republic of Negros and Siquijor is the country in the Philippine Archipelago.
It was declared independence from Spain in 1898 and the first President was Aniceto Lacson. It was occupied by the Americans in 1901 and the first capital was Bacolod.
In 1910, it was declared independence from US and established the Second Republic and the new President was Juan Araneta and the new capital was Himamaylan. It was made a capital of Negros from 1910 to 1935. And it was back to Bacolod from 1935 to the World War II.
During World War II, it was invaded by the Japanese (including those of the neighboring countries) until the end of World War II. After World War II, Himamaylan was transferred to Dumaguete as a capital of Negros after World War II until 1965 and again it was transferred to Cadiz from 1965 until 1980.
In 1980, the new province of Negros del Norte was established and the new capital is in Cadiz. The city was transferred back to Bacolod from 1980 to 2008. In 1995, the new province of Negros del Sur was established and the new capital is in Valencia. Bacolod was transferred again to Kabankalan from 2008 until present.
