The Neapolitan Republic (also known as the Republic of the Mafia or Meridione) is a mob state sorted in southern and central Italy after the great war.
History
The Era of the Gold for the Mafia
When the bombs falls in Italy the southern regions were in the death throes of chaos, and many believed the Camorra Clans was the only who can protect them.
In the initial months many members the Camorra was elected member of the provisional government of the Neapolitan Republic, under the party of the Democrazia Cristiana or under the PRI, at the end of the 1962 the 70% of the Parliament's seat was take by the Democrazia Cristiana, the rest was under control of the PCI, in the initial months also many capoclan have access and have grown in the administriative and buisness key sector of the republic, in this way the mafia woud have contol of the economy and of the state in a legal way.
When the President of the Provisional Neapolitan Republic left his office the parliament have elected as his successor Pasquale Simonetti, leader of the new Camorra. Afer this all the communist left the parliament in sign of protest, but this was even a good things for the Camorra, after this they have granting him absolute powers. One of the first orders of Simonetti was killing the military of the Carabinieri and of the Police of the State. Those who weren't killed joined the Mafia or fled into Sicily.
In 1964 the Neapolitans contacted the other Mafia in Southern Italy. A document was drafted, the Accord of Caserta the Neapolitan Republic was proclaimed, with capital in Naples.
The Assembly of the Syndicates have set up the Neapolitan Police, a Police force composed by criminals, bandits, soldiers of the Clans and volunteers.
Only some soldiers have attempted to oppose Armed Resistance against the Republic, this event was called "La rivolta dei Bersaglieri", why the leader of the revolt a major of the Bersaglieri.
The political opposition is composed of Communist, Nationalists, Democrats, Neo-Fascists elements. The resistance was take down, and Fascism and Communism was banned in the Republic.
Expansion
After some years of stabilizing in the Republic, they have started the operation "Reunion", with the occupation of Basilicata and Molise.

The Molise was captured in two weeks, after the Battle of Campobasso, the Neapolitan Army have started to advanced in Basilicata, who have joined The republic voluntarily. In 1975 the republic controls the ex-regions of the Campania, Apulia, Molise and Basilicata.
Gaining more than 50,000 volunteers from the annexed regions, the Neapolitan Army advanced and conquered the city of Urbino, the last city to resist the Republic of the Mafia in the Marche. This firefight lasted for two months, after the conquest of the Marche by the Neapolitan Republic more then 15,000 people flead in the People's Republic of Romagna, Papal States, Tuscany and in San Marino.
After the annexation of Marche they have recruied 50,000 men, bringing at 150,000 military the Neapolitan Army, they have also a strong Navy composed by 50,000 miltary and for now a weak Air Force, composed of 20,000 military.
In the 70s the ex-USAF base of San Vito dei Normanni was take under control by the Neapolitan Army and all the American Personeel was forced at leave the country, most of the Americans have take refuge in Sicily or in Tuscany
In the 1975 the Neapolitan Republic occupy and annex the Isles of Pelagosa, who until the 1947 was under the Italian control and before the 1860 under the control of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, after this annession the Republic have created a stable military outpost of the Army and of the Navy for make raids again the Albania and again the Yugoslavia, also it have settled some fishmen and workers for create a villagge.
The isles was used by the Navy as point of supply during the invasion of Ragusa, who was a indipendent republic from the Geat War, the Republic was captured with difficult by the Neapolitans and after that many citizens flead in Yugoslavia or in Croatia.
Landing in Liguria
In 1995 the Republic of Holy United Crown made a landing in Liguria, nominated "Operazione Ionio", the major objectives of the Republic were the ports of Savona, for annex Liguria and after the Piedmont. They underestimated the Italian Armed Forces, the most organized and modern Armed Forces in the Peninsula, second only to the Sicilian Armed Forces.
During the attack on Savona most of the ships in the Holy United Navy were destroyed before even docking. Only one ship with 50 soldiers docked, and they managed to occupy a building for one hour, killing a family and a policeman who tried to stopped the soldiers. After a short firefight the remaining men were forced to surrender to the Italian Army. The other ships of the Operation was cut down even before docked in the ports of the main objectives.
After a military court, the remaining soldiers were quickly convicted and promptly executed.
Resistance to the Republic
Since the conquest of all of Southern Italy, many people, in one way or another, have started to aggressively resist to a state composed of ex-criminals. The groups of resistance are growing with many people who have joined in the ranks of the various resistance groups. The groups are mainly composed of Communist, Italian Nationalists, Neo-Fascists, Catholic and more, and they are supplied by the Italian Republic, Sicily, Tuscany, People's Republic of Romagna, Sardinia, Venice and San Marino.
International Relations
The Neapolitan Republic is hostile at all the Italian post-nations, is also hated by all political factions in Italy. Most nations with no stake in Italy have refused to establish any kind of relations, political or otherwise. Tense borders are maintained with the People's Republic of Romagna and Sicily, despite this the Neapolitan Republic is the third most powerfull country of the Italian Peninsula.
