Napoleon Joseph Bonaparte (born December 20, 1874; died August 19, 1925), better known by his regnal name of Napoleon III, was the 6th Emperor of the French, reigning from June 10, 1922 until his assassination at the hands of his brother Albert's operatives during the Iron Revolution in 1925. He is typically regarded as France's most incompetent Emperor in history, and was referred to as le petit empereur (the Little Emperor) during his reign by his detractors and the press. He is the only Emperor to have been assassinated during his reign - his nephew, Edmond, was overthrown prior to his execution.
