The following is the timeline for the NSD universe.

1860s[]

  • 1860 - Crittenden Compromise
  • 1860 - Abraham Lincoln (Republican) wins the 1860 U.S. Presidential Election.
  • 1860 - South Carolina secedes from the United States
  • 1861 - Abraham Lincoln is inaugurated as President of the United States.
  • 1861 - Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, Louisiana, North Carolina, and Georgia secede from the United States.
  • 1861 - Confederate States of America is established in Montgomery, Alabama.
  • 1861 - Jefferson Davis is elected and inaugurated as President of the Confederate States.
  • 1861 - The Confederate capital is moved from Montgomery, Alabama, to Richmond, Virginia.
  • 1861 - The Fort Sumter Incident occurs
  • 1861 - The Thirteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution is proposed.
  • 1861 - Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Arkansas secede from the United States and are admitted to the Confederate States.
  • 1862 - Thirteenth Amendment is ratified.
  • 1862 - The United States refuses to meet with the Confederates for negotiations in Paris.
  • 1863 - The Richmond Summit takes place, which results in Abraham Lincoln signing the Richmond Accords.
  • 1864 - Nevada is admitted to the United States.
  • 1864 - The Fourteenth Amendment is ratified. (This guarantees the civil liberties of all citizens, including the right to vote, regardless of race.)
  • 1864 - Hannibal Hamlin wins the 1864 U.S. Presidential Election.
  • 1864 - West Virginia is admitted to the United States.
  • 1865 - The Fifteenth Amendment is ratified. (This abolishes secession and clarifies that all states are subordinate to the Federal Government.)
  • 1866 - The First Amendment to the Confederate Constitution is proposed and ratified. (This guarantees all willing citizens of the United States will be recognized as natural-born citizens of the Confederate States for the next twenty years.)
  • 1866 - Alexander Stephens wins the 1866 C.S. Presidential Election.
  • 1867 - Nebraska is admitted to the United States.
  • 1868 - Hannibal Hamlin wins the 1868 U.S. Presidential Election.
  • 1869 - The Second Amendment to the Confederate Constitution is proposed and ratified. (This guarantees that all states are sovereign and are not subordinate to the Federal Government.)

1870s[]

  • 1872 - The Third Amendment to the Confederate Constitution is proposed and ratified. (This clarifies that the Judicial Branch is subordinate to the Executive and Legislative Branches.)
  • 1872 - Joseph E. Johnston wins the 1872 C.S. Presidential Election.==

  • 1876 - Colorado is admitted to the United States.

  • 1880 - Rutherford B. Hayes wins the 1880 U.S. Presidential Election.
  • 1884 - John G. Carlisle wins the 1884 C.S. Presidential Election.
  • 1884 - Rutherford B. Hayes wins the 1884 U.S. Presidential Election.
  • 1889 - The Fourth Amendment to the Confederate Constitution is proposed and ratified. (This removes the one term limit for the Confederate President.)
  • 1889 - North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, and Washington are admitted to the United States.

1890s[]

  • 1890 - John G. Carlisle wins the 1890 C.S. Presidential Election.
  • 1892 - Benjamin Harrison wins the 1892 U.S. Presidential Election.
  • 1895 - J. Edgar Hoover is born in Lynchburg, Virginia.
  • 1896 - Utah is admitted to the United States.
  • 1896 - John G. Carlisle wins the 1896 C.S. Presidential Election.
  • 1896 - Confederate Financial Standard Act is passed in the Confederate States.
  • 1897 - Virginia National Militia cracks down on anti-Confederate protests in northern Virginia.
  • 1899 - The U.S. Dollar Act is passed by the U.S. Congress and signed by President McKinley. (This officially creates the national currency.)

1900s[]

  • 1900 - Gold Standard Act is passed in the United States.
  • 1901 - U.S. President McKinley escapes from an assassination attempt in the Buffalo, New York.
  • 1901 - The Virginia State Government declares Martial Law in northern Virginia, due to the continuous anti-Confederate rioting.
  • 1902 - John Sharp Williams wins the 1902 C.S. Presidential Election. This begins the so-called American Restoration Period.
  • 1903 - First World Series occurs in the United States.
  • 1903 - Child Labor is abolished in the United States.
  • 1908 - William Howard Taft wins the 1908 U.S. Presidential Election.
  • 1907 - John Sharp Williams wins the 1908 C.S. Presidential Election.
  • 1907 - Oklahoma is admitted to the Confederate States.
  • 1909 - U.S. Flag is planted at North Pole.
  • 1909 - Virginia asks for Confederate Government's help when the northern Virginia riots cannot be controlled by Martial Law.

1910s[]

  • 1910 - C.S. President Williams calls for elections in the northern counties of Virginia to determine their political future.
  • 1911 - The northern counties of Virginia elect to secede from the state and join the United States.
  • 1911 - C.S. President Williams agrees to recognize the election results.
  • 1911 - Virginia agrees to recognize the election results.
  • 1911 - The United States agrees to annex northern Virginia.
  • 1912 - West Virginia absorbs northern Virginia.
  • 1912 - Theodore Roosevelt wins the 1912 U.S. Presidential Election.
  • 1913 - Federal Reserve Act fails to pass in the United States.
  • 1913 - At the height of the American Restoration Period, both the United States and the Confederate States agree to open their borders to tourism and merchants.
  • 1914 - World War I breaks out.
  • 1914 - Oscar Underwood wins the 1914 C.S. Presidential Election.
  • 1915 - Lusitania sinks.
  • 1916 - The United States enters World War I.
  • 1916 - Theodore Roosevelt wins the 1916 U.S. Presidential Election.
  • 1917 - The Confederate States enters World War I.
  • 1917 - C.S. President Underwood allows a portion of the slave population to become freemen, if they join the Confederate front lines in Europe.
  • 1919 - World War I ends.
  • 1919 - The United States joins the League of Nations.
  • 1919 - The Confederate States refuses to join the League of Nations.

1920s[]

  • 1920 - Historians agree that the American Restoration Period ends when the states of South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi threaten secession if the "pro-Yankee political factions" are not purged from the government.
  • 1920 - Robert L. Owen wins the 1920 C.S. Presidential Election.
  • 1920 - Warren G. Harding wins the 1920 U.S. Presidential Election.
  • 1924 - Warren G. Harding wins the 1924 U.S. Presidential Election.
  • 1924 - Robert L. Owen appoints J. Edgar Hoover as Director of the Confederate Bureau of Investigation.
  • 1926 - Robert L. Owen wins the 1926 C.S. Presidential Election.
  • 1928 - Warren G. Harding wins the 1928 U.S. Presidential Election.
  • 1929 - The Great Depression Begins.

1930s[]

  • 1930 - The states of Virginia and North Carolina are the first Confederate states to abolish slavery. This is primarily due to the poor economy and the growing international backlash.
  • 1932 - Franklin D. Roosevelt wins the 1932 U.S. Presidential Election.
  • 1932 - John N. Garner wins the 1932 C.S. Presidential Election. During his campaign, he became the first prominent Confederate politician to call for the prohibition of slavery due to its "economic inefficiency."
  • 1932 - The state of Georgia abolishes slavery.
  • 1934 - The states of Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Kentucky abolish slavery.
  • 1936 - Jessie Owens finds success in the Berlin Olympics.
  • 1937 - The states of Tennessee, South Carolina, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida are the last Confederate states to abolish slavery.
  • 1937 - The United States becomes sympathetic to China as the Sino-Japanese War begins.
  • 1938 - J. Edgar Hoover becomes a popular figure in the Confederate States when he brings down several notorious bank robbers and gangsters in the south.
  • 1938 - John N. Garner wins the 1938 C.S. Presidential Election.
  • 1939 - World War II begins. Both the United States and the Confederate States remain neutral in the conflict.

1940s[]

  • 1940 - Historians note that sympathy for Nazi Germany began to increasingly grow in the Confederate States at this point in time.
  • 1941 - The United States enters the war on the side of the Allies in World War II after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.
  • 1941 - The Axis Powers urge the Confederate States to enter the war on their side. While the states of Virginia and Texas welcomed the idea and volunteered troops, the rest of the states and the Confederate Government refused to enter another foreign war. This was mainly because of the population's hostile memories of their involvement in World War I.
  • 1944 - Franklin D. Roosevelt wins the 1944 U.S. Presidential Election.
  • 1944 - John N. Garner wins the 1944 C.S. Presidential Election.
  • 1945 - Franklin D. Roosevelt passes away. Harry Truman becomes the new U.S. President.
  • 1945 - World War II ends with the United States becoming the first nuclear power.
  • 1945 - United States become a charter member of the United Nations. Meanwhile, the Confederate States refuses to join the United Nations.
  • 1948 - Harry Truman wins the 1948 U.S. Presidential Election.
  • 1949 - The Confederate States becomes the first nation to recognize the People's Republic of China.
  • 1949 - Berlin Airlift occurs.

1950s[]

  • 1950 - North Korea invades South Korea, this starts the Korean Conflict.
  • 1950 - South Korea repels the North Korean invasion, in thanks to U.S. involvement, and successfully invades North Korea.
  • 1950 - The United States drops two atomic bombs in northern China in order to deter the Communists from aiding the North Koreans.
  • 1950 - The North Korean Government collapses.
  • 1950 - Strom Thurmond The 1950 C.S. Presidential Election.
  • 1951 - The United States mocks the Soviet Union and its allies on the floor of the United Nations. The United States refers to all communist nations as "weak defenders of a flawed ideology."
  • 1952 - Harry Truman wins the 1952 U.S. Presidential Election.
  • 1952 - Strom Thurmond and Harry Truman meet on two separate occasions. The two meetings in Washington D.C. and Richmond, respectively, established the American Reconciliation Treaty.
  • 1956 - Strom Thurmond wins the 1956 C.S. Presidential Election.
  • 1956 - The Confederate Reformers begin to emerge throughout the Confederate society.
  • 1956 - J. Edgar Hoover, who has gained great power by this point, publicly decries the "erosion of morality in the Confederacy."
  • 1956 - Dwight D. Eisenhower wins the 1956 U.S. Presidential Election.
  • 1959 - Fidel Castro's Cuban Revolution fails.

1960s[]

  • 1961 - With growing support throughout both the majority of the conservative population and the Southern Democratic Party, J. Edgar Hoover gives his famous Atlanta Address. He calls for the implementation of his New Confederacy.
  • 1962 - Hoover's New Confederacy is implemented after he wins the 1962 C.S. Presidential Election.
  • 1964 - Richard Nixon wins the 1964 U.S. Presidential Election.
