In this timeline, NASCAR remained a sport for "good old boys" watched by middle-aged and elderly white male Protestants. The tobacco industry strongly supports NASCAR to this very day (2007) and has young stars like Ryan Newman, Kyle Busch, and Kasey Kahne advertising in cigarette commercials. A certain cellular phone company tried to gain a contract with NASCAR, but was outbid at the last minute by the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. Darrell Waltrip is also seen in the announcer's booth, smoking Winston cigarettes where providing color commentary for the races.
