Willard Mitt Romney (born March 12, 1947) is the 45th and current President of the United States. He also served as the 70th Governor of Massachusetts from 2003 to 2007. Romney opted not to run for re-election as Governor in 2006, as he planned a presidential run in 2008. However, he lost his party's nomination to John McCain. In 2012, he became the Republican nominee and narrowly defeated incumbent president Barack Obama. He won re-election in 2016, defeating Hillary Clinton.
