The Manchurian Socialist Republic (Mandarin: 东北社会主义共和国, Russian: Маньчжурская Социалистическая Республика) is a constituent republic of the USSR located in the Northeast of the former People's Republic of China.

Manchuria was hit hard by strategic nuclear strikes, as it was a vital industrial region in the PRC and the local government quickly proved unable to control the crumbling region. Falling into anarchy with military leaders fighting each other for supremacy, many Chinese fled to the still functioning USSR, despite its role in the nuclear strikes.

Raids and the re-establishment of order

Since Doomsday, Siberian cities were attacked by Chinese ex-military forces, trying to pillage the USSR out of anger or purely to survive. Defending the border with Manchuria took up a lot of forces and officials decided that the problem needed to be dealt with on a more permanent level.

Aliyev, in early 1990, decided that the best course of action was to establish stability in the region and create a buffer between Siberia and lawless China. In April, Siberian tanks invaded Northern Manchuria and eradicated all opposition. North Manchuria was temporarily designated as a territory and put under military rule. It was not until November 1995 that the Territory became an integral state in the Union and was renamed the Manchurian Socialist Republic.

Manchuria has had some friction with existing Republics, as local officials continually claimed that the Uyghur and Manchurian Socialist Republics should merge into the Chinese Federative Socialist Republic. Siberian officials tried to stop this nationalist sentiment, however, since there is a strong Chinese lobby in the government, a referendum on the matter was tenuously set to take place in February 2012. The referendum failed, as a surprising majority voted to not create this new republic.

The majority of the population in Manchuria is Han Chinese. Manchus form a significant minority, and have been almost completely assimilated into the Han Chinese; the Manchu language is almost extinct. Other major ethnic groups include the Mongols, the Koreans, and the Russians.
