In 109 BSC (Before Second Collapse), a general of the small Roman enclave of Thessalonike, Daris Scheallios, claimed relation to Alexander III of Greece. Over 5000 men joined his cause in the first month and after a year, he rebelled against the Roman governor of the city. The governor was captured sometime in 108 BSC and executed, Daris claiming the city and surrounding area for himself.
