Selene Program

Mission Launch Mission goal Mission results
Selene 1 21 February 1996 Lunar Sample Return Success: Probe Returned with 1,784 grams of lunar soil. Also installed scientific devices on the moon, including a siemic monitor, and a crude automated telescope. The telescope promptly fell over after the first three days, but was able to get some images in beforehand. About $4 Billion Dollars in profit upon the complete sale of the lunar soil.
Selene 2 17 August 1996 Lunar Sample Return Failure: Lunar Probe failed to respond to commands immediately following the landing. It is assumed that the communications array was in some way damaged, though images still cam in clean. It was shut down on August 23.
Selene 3 30 November 1996 Lunar Sample Return Success: Lunar Probe returns with 3,602 grams of lunar soil. Another temporary telescope is installed upon the surface, by request from NASA. At the request of the Make A Wish Foundation, a child's astronaut toy was left upon the surface of the moon. A picture of the action-figure holding the American-flag was sent to him. About $9 Billion Dollars in profit upon the complete sale of the lunar soil.
Selene 4 2 March 1997 Lunar Sample Return, Lunar Roving Vehicle Success: 3,897 grams of lunar soil are returned, for about $9 Billion in profit. The Actaeon 1 Rover was also droped off.
Selene 5 25 May 1997 Lunar Sample Return, Lunar Roving Vehicle Success: Lunar Probe returns with 3,714 grams of lunar soil, for about a profit of $7 Billion. The Lunar Resources Company began to force free lunar samples from the Artemis Project from this mission on. Actaeon 2 was also dropped off.
Selene 6 1 October 1997 (Original: 7 July 1997) Lunar Sample Return, Lunar Roving Vehicle Success: Lunar Probe returns with 3,261 grams of lunar soil, for about a profit of $6 Billion. Actaeon 3, 4, and 5 were dropped off.
Selene 7 16 February 1998 Lunar Sample Return, Lunar Roving Vehicle Success: Lunar Probe returns with 3,198 grams of lunar soil, for about a profit of $6.5 Billion. Actaeon 6, 7, and 8 were dropped off.
Selene 8 17 June 1998 Lunar Sample Return, Lunar Roving Vehicle Success: Lunar Probe returns with 3,373 grams of lunar soil, for about a profit of $6 Billion. Actaeon 9, 10, and 11 were dropped off.
