The Lord Protectors of Prussia or Herr aus Prūsas in Prussian German began with Albert Heinrich and currently the position is held by Markus Amsel. Intended first as a temporary position eventually it slowly became permanent as the Adligenrat realised that not having a Monarch allowed them more power to rule over the affairs of Prussia.
