Lev Borisovich Kamenev (Russian: Лев Бори́сович Ка́менев; July 6 [July 18 N.S.], 1883 – July 20, 1942), born Lev Borisovich Rozenfeld (Russian: Лев Бори́сович Ро́зенфельд), was a Russian communist revolutionary and Soviet politician. He served as the first head of state of the Russian Socialist Federative Soviet Republic in 1917 and the second Premier of the Soviet Union from 1924 to 1934. He was the informal leader of the Soviet Communist Party from 1924 until his subordination to a coalition between Bukharin and Kirov in 1934 and ultimately to Kirov in 1939, which he shared his power with the Chairman of the Comintern Executive Committee, Grigory Zinoviev.
