The Latins are an ethnic group situated in the Peloponnese region of Greece, especially along the north and west coasts. The Latins originate from French and Italian crusaders from the Fourth Crusade and the Latinokratia during the 14th and early 15th centuries.

Following the end of their rule as the Catholic pretenders to the Roman Empire, the Latins remained a distinct ethnic group within the Empire because of their Italian and French language and Catholicism. Eventually, Italian and French were phased out and Latin emerged as a common language. The Latins were thought to be crucial to the development of the Roman Empire's first middle class in the late 17th century as merchants and businessmen with connections with the rest of Christian Europe.
