Kuvira Laghima was born in the United Republic of Tiangong to unknown parents. Abandoned at the age of 6, Kuvira was left to brave the streets alone. Some months later, James Virtanis took her in, who raised her like a daughter and adopted her. Soon proving to excel at school, at age 20, she entered politics. An extremely intelligent and charismatic woman, Laghima became famous for giving speeches advocating more unity among people.
Laghima was the one to suggest the creation of an international organizaton for global peacekeeping and unification, and became its first President in 1986. Quickly rising through the ranks of the United Republic, Laghima was elected a Representative at 21, a Senator at 22 and President at 24 , the youngest democratically elected head of state in world history. An effective administrator, Kuvira was nearly universally beloved and was the recipient of numerous peace awards and national medals.
After the defeat of a motion which was to transform the United Nations into a world government, which was not suggested by Laghima but by Rajputana. Seeing no other option, Laghima executed her plan B, the conquest of the world. On 16 March 1990, Laghima declared the Earth Empire and all sovereign states null and void, with herself as Supreme Leader and Great Uniter of Earth. Urging nations to turn over their powers to her, Laghima was labeled "insane" and "absurd". Despite attempts for peaceful negotiations, Kuvira declared war on all sovereign nations to "assert the authority of the Earth Empire", in response the United Nations ordered her immediate arrest. With an army consisting of more than 10 million people, Laghima quickly conquered China, drafting many of its people in her army. Within ten years, the Earth Empire had conquered nearly 60% of the entire world, and it seemed she was unstoppable. Despite coming closer to conquering the world than any other person, Laghima realized her ideals were flawed and regretted her decision to plunge the world into a global war. Laghima surrendered and the Earth Empire was dissolved. Rather than standing trial, Laghima killed herself, regretting everything she had done, and apologizing to all people she had hurt or caused pain.
Laghima is one of the most controversial figures in world history. She has been called epithets from "the best dictator" to "well-intentioned extremist" to "despotic tyrant". While not universally accepted, most historians and researchers agree that Laghima was a misguided woman, who truly wanted to unity humanity and bring peace, order and prosperity to the world. Despite the millions of deaths she caused, some people continue to regard as a hero, while others see her as the most evil tyrant who ever lived. Laghima is buried in the Unification Monument, a monument Laghima constructed to celebrate the coming unification of the world.
Kuvira Laghima was born under an unknown name to unknown parents in the poorest district of Republic City. Little is known about this part of her life, though Laghima described the things she could remember from this part of her childhood as "depressive".
When she was 6 years old, Kuvira was abandoned by her parents on the streets. Police rarely patrolled the outer districts of the city, so Kuvira was never placed in an orphanage. Braving the streets alone, Kuvira was left to her fate. Eventually, she befriended a fellow orphan, Michael. Despite their difficulties, the two seemed to have lived happy days during their time together.
Becoming best friends, Kuvira spent much time with him, and was happier than she used to be. Sometime later, Kuvira was found by accident by James Virtanis, who decided to take her in, adopt her and raise her as his own daughter. He named her Kuvira, meaning "courageous woman" in Hindi, a language he was knowledgeable in. Kuvira was given new hope, and a new home, something she was James eternally grateful for.
Some months later, Kuvira thought of her friend Michael, who she had left behind. Deciding to find him, Kuvira ran of, with James pursuing her. After taking her to her old district, Kuvira hastened to a small street where she and Michael often met. There, Kuvira stumbled upon Michael's decaying corpse. Horrified, Kuvira screamed, while James attempted to cover her eyes and protect her. This experience, along with her parental abandonment, was known to have scarred Kuvira for life and left a profound effect on her personality.
Virtanis attempted to give Kuvira a normal life, and treated her with genuine love and care. Despite this, James remarked Kuvira rarely smiled and often appeared emotionless. Regardless, Kuvira was not afraid to thank Virtanis for all he did for her.
Teenagehood and adolescence
Virtanis often noted how smart Kuvira was for her age and often praised her for her logical and quick thinking. Kuvira had little friends in high school, while she excelled at nearly all of her subjects. Laghima did befriend a boy called Esper Ralos, a thing she blamed on their similar personalities. The two became good friends and remained friends fof life, even after Kuvira became President and declared the Earth Empire. Laghima graduated two years early due to her high intelligence and decided to attend the Republic City University. Laghima graduated at age 20 in a Law and Politics degree. After doing this, Kuvira chose her surname to be Laghima, a dharmic term meaning enlightened.

Usually, she preferred to do things by herself, though did not hesitate to offer help to others. Kuvira was incredibly charismatic and managed to sway the entire nation to her beliefs, in a few years. Kuvira was calm and treated her government officials very fairly, and she always spoke in a hospitable manner to them. There is only one known instance where Kuvira lost her temper. “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams."”
“Do our actions define who we are? Or does who we are define our actions? In reality, both are correct.”

“We make our own destiny. There is no such thing as fate.”
“It is truly absurd, silly and archaic that there are still nations in this world that are ruled by an aristocratic family merely on the premise that they won the genetic lottery and were born into the "right family". The world evolves, and monarchies can evolve with it.”
“I am truly sorry for all the lives that I have taken, destroyed or damaged. I know I will never be forgiven for my actions, but let it be known that I regret every single one of my actions as Supreme Leader. My ambition, my dreams, my faith blinded me all. By being prepared to sacrifice anything, or anyone, for the sake of unity, I have become no better than my enemies, and the epitome of hypocrisy.”
