Kuvira Laghima was born in the United Republic of Tiangong to unknown parents. Abandoned at the age of 6, Kuvira was left to brave the streets alone. Some months later, James Virtanis took her in, who raised her like a daughter and adopted her. Soon proving to excel at school, at age 20, she entered politics. An extremely intelligent and charismatic woman, Laghima became famous for giving speeches advocating more unity among people.
Laghima was the one to suggest the creation of an international organization for global peacekeeping and unification, and became its first President in 1989. Quickly rising through the ranks of the United Republic, Laghima was elected a Representative at 21, a Senator at 22 and President at 24 , the youngest democratically elected head of state in world history. An effective administrator, Kuvira was nearly universally beloved and was the recipient of numerous peace awards and national medals.
After the defeat of a motion which was to transform the United Nations into a world government, which was not suggested by Laghima but by Rajputana. Seeing no other option, Laghima executed her plan B, the conquest of the world. On 16 March 1990, Laghima declared the Earth Empire and all sovereign states null and void, with herself as Supreme Leader and Great Uniter of Earth. Urging nations to turn over their powers to her, Laghima was labeled "insane" and "absurd". Despite attempts for peaceful negotiations, Kuvira declared war on all sovereign nations to "assert the authority of the Earth Empire", in response the United Nations ordered her immediate arrest. With an army consisting of more than 10 million people, Laghima quickly conquered China, drafting many of its people in her army. Within ten years, the Earth Empire had conquered nearly 60% of the entire world, and it seemed she was unstoppable. Despite coming closer to conquering the world than any other person, Laghima realized her ideals were flawed and regretted her decision to plunge the world into a global war. Laghima surrendered and the Earth Empire was dissolved. Rather than standing trial, Laghima killed herself, regretting everything she had done, and apologizing to all people she had hurt or caused pain.
Laghima is one of the most controversial figures in world history. She has been called epithets from "the best dictator" to "well-intentioned extremist" to "despotic tyrant". While not universally accepted, most historians and researchers agree that Laghima was a misguided woman, who truly wanted to unity humanity and bring peace, order and prosperity to the world. Despite the millions of deaths she caused, some people continue to regard as a hero, while others see her as the most evil tyrant who ever lived. Laghima is buried in the Unification Monument, a monument Laghima constructed to celebrate the coming unification of the world.
Kuvira Laghima was born under an unknown name to unknown parents in the poorest district of Republic City. Little is known about this part of her life, though Laghima described the things she could remember from this part of her childhood as "depressive".
When she was 6 years old, Kuvira was abandoned by her parents on the streets. Police rarely patrolled the outer districts of the city, so Kuvira was never placed in an orphanage. Braving the streets alone, Kuvira was left to her fate. Eventually, she befriended a fellow orphan, Michael. Despite their difficulties, the two seemed to have lived happy days during their time together.
Becoming best friends, Kuvira spent much time with him, and was happier than she used to be. Sometime later, Kuvira was found by accident by James Virtanis, who decided to take her in, adopt her and raise her as his own daughter. He named her Kuvira, meaning "courageous woman" in Hindi, a language he was knowledgeable in. Kuvira was given new hope, and a new home, something she was James eternally grateful for.
Some months later, Kuvira thought of her friend Michael, who she had left behind. Deciding to find him, Kuvira ran of, with James pursuing her. After taking her to her old district, Kuvira hastened to a small street where she and Michael often met. There, Kuvira stumbled upon Michael's decaying corpse. Horrified, Kuvira screamed, while James attempted to cover her eyes and protect her. This experience, along with her parental abandonment, was known to have scarred Kuvira for life and left a profound effect on her personality.
Virtanis attempted to give Kuvira a normal life, and treated her with genuine love and care. Despite this, James remarked Kuvira rarely smiled and often appeared emotionless. Regardless, Kuvira was not afraid to thank Virtanis for all he did for her.
Teenagehood and adolescence
Virtanis often noted how smart Kuvira was for her age and often praised her for her logical and quick thinking. Kuvira had little friends in high school, while she excelled at nearly all of her subjects. Laghima did befriend a boy called Esper Ralos, a thing she blamed on their similar personalities. The two became good friends and remained friends fof life, even after Kuvira became President and declared the Earth Empire. Laghima graduated two years early due to her high intelligence and decided to attend the Republic City University. Laghima graduated at age 20 in a Law and Politics degree. After doing this, Kuvira chose her surname to be Laghima, a dharmic term meaning enlightened.
Early political career
Laghima entered politics as soon as she graduated, and frequently made speeches on the streets, while also becoming a well-known internet socialite. This led her to be elected the Representative of Republic City's 3rd district in 1986. Her rapid rise to fame was very unusual, to such an extent that President Bolormaa invited her to have an audience with her at the Presidential Mansion. Bolormaa saw Laghima as a promising young politician, claiming she would go on to do great things in her life.
In 1987, Laghima ran for Senator of Republic City, in which she was elected in a landslide. She became the nation's youngest Senator ever.
Rise to power
An extraordinarily charismatic and intelligent woman, Laghima quickly became one of the most influential politicians in the nation, and in the world. A strong proponent of a more unified and globalized world, Laghima proposed the establishment of an international organization to promote peace and cooperation on Earth. This organization became the United Nations, and Laghima became its first leader. By this period in her life, Laghima came to believe that a world state was to be the best solution for the world's problems. Laghima was seen as one of the most likely to be elected President of the Republic in the future, though when she announced her candidacy in 1989, it came as a shock to many. Merely 24 years old, Laghima was seen by the elite as inexperienced and too young.
Presidential campaign and election
Laghima was the youngest person to ever run for President, and this shocked many of the older generations. Despite her competence and vision, most politicians endorsed Laghima's opponent Sandra Ascalon, the leader of the Democratic party. Choosing Senna Zenglai, a military general as her running mate, Laghima promised she would usher a new era of global peace and enlightenment. Her opponent argued Laghima had a secret agenda and was too young to lead one of the most powerful nations in the world. Despite having the elite's support, Ascalon was unable to sway the general populace to her side, and lost the election to Laghima. It was widely considered that Ascalon's insistence on some kind of hidden agenda distantiated most of the voters away from her.
On 5 December 1989, Kuvira Laghima was elected the youngest President of the United Republic and the youngest democratically elected head of state in world history, which shocked the entire world. Despite this, many dignitaries congratulated Laghima on her victory.
Laghima was inaugurated on 1 January 1990, and she immediately began to work towards her goals. As soon as she entered office, Laghima convinced the United Congress to increase government spending to eradicate poverty in the United Republic, and guarantee a basis income for every citizen of the United Republic.
As the leader of a sovereign nation, Laghima frequently met with her United Nations organization, and frequently called for more unity and solidarity among humans worldwide, she also made a call for the end of intolerance, inequality and discrimination. One of the more controversial calls she made was one to abolish every monarchy, which provoked numerous nations around the world.
Kuvira's attempted world conquest left the world scarred, though it managed to recover relatively quickly. Kuvira remains one of the most controversial people in world history.
The political belief of Unificationism, founded by herself, still has many supporters worldwide.
The funeral of Kuvira Laghima, was the most watched event in United Republican history, and was attended by nearly all members of government, along with people serving under the abolished Supreme Congress of the Earth. Despite objections by virtually all sovereign states, the funeral went ahead as a state funeral. Senna Zenglai, acting President, was among the most notable to attend the funeral. Millions of people where present when Laghima's coffin was carried through the city. The nation descended into national mourning for a month, and there was a general atmosphere of sadness in the nation for the entire year.
Kuvira in the United Republic today
Despite Laghima's controversial deeds, popular opinion of her remains high, with as much as 60% of the population expressing positive feelings when asked. She is know under various nicknames such as "Great Mother" and "Great Leader, or simply "The Leader". Many foreign nations have criticized this, saying that it "glorifies dictators". President Asami Saito caused controversy when she said on live tv that "Kuvira Laghima is will always remain in the hearts of our people", with nations such as China demanding an apology. Some have accused President Saito of trying to emulate Laghima.

She also stated that religion was the cause of many evil things throughout history. “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams."”
“Do our actions define who we are? Or does who we are define our actions? In reality, both are correct.”
“To accomplish great things we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe.”
“True power can only be given by the people.”
“Religion has always been a tool to manipulate, deceive or control. It has killed more than it has saved.”
“We make our own destiny. There is no such thing as fate.”
“It is truly absurd, silly and archaic that there are still nations in this world that are ruled by an aristocratic family merely on the premise that they won the genetic lottery and were born into the "right family". The world evolves, and monarchies can evolve with it.”
“I am truly sorry for all the lives that I have taken, destroyed or damaged. I know I will never be forgiven for my actions, but let it be known that I regret every single one of my actions as Supreme Leader. My ambition, my dreams, my faith blinded me all. By being prepared to sacrifice anything, or anyone, for the sake of unity, I have become no better than my enemies, and the epitome of hypocrisy.”
