The Kolkata Agreement was a 1891 treaty that officially resulted in the acquisition of the Nellore, Chennai and Nagapattinam from the United German Kingdoms, the Roman Empire and the Lankan Empire respectively.
The treaty was signed on March 24, 1891 at the Marble Palace, Indian Empire by the Amir of Vijaynagar and Diplomats from the United German Kingdoms, the Roman Empire and the Lankan Empire. The terms of the treaty went into effect on May 16, 1891.
Terms Concerning the United German Kingdoms
The United German Kingdoms shall cede the territory of Nellore to the Indian Empire, and shall renounce all claims over Nellore.
The United German Kingdoms shall be compensated with the monetary payment of 500,000 Reichstaler.
Terms Concerning the Roman Empire
The Roman Empire shall cede the territory of Chennai to the Indian Empire, and shall renounce all claims over Chennai.
The Roman Empire shall be allowed to maintain control of, and have unrestricted access to the Saint Thomas Basilica and Saint Thomas Mount.
The Roman Empire shall be compensated with the monetary payment of 500,000 Stavraton.
Terms Concerning the Lankan Empire
The Lankan Empire shall cede the territory of Nagapattinam to the Indian Empire, and shall renounce all claims over Nagapattinam.
The Lankan Empire and the Indian Empire shall sign a Non - Aggression Pact, lasting for 25 years.
The Lankan Empire shall be compensated with the monetary payment of 500,000 Dutch Guilders and Lankan industrialization shall be funded by the Indian Empire for the next 25 years.
