Introduction

There where many wars caused by the assassination of a very important person to a country, like the World War I. But what if in an alternative history, the assassination of the president of the United States: John F. Kennedy, in 1963, lead to another World War, but with nuclear proportions. That's what this article is about, a nuclear war that reduced everything to ashes.

Point of divergence

After the assassination of the president, the assassin Lee Harvey Oswald, was caught and judged by the assassination of JFK, for murdering J.D.Tippit, and accused for communism. One day later, rumors across the American land said that the Soviet Union was behind the assassination of the president to weaken the image of the capitalist force. The tension between the two superpowers worsened, leading to a more divided world it was before. In November 30 1963, the USA declared war to the Soviet Union, all nations in the world chose a side and entered the war. In December 14 1963 the Soviet Union and the USA launched nuclear weapons to each other national and allied cities, destroying all the nations in the world, and definitely ending the war.

Post-war

After the nuclear war, entire cities were destroyed and almost all were abandoned. The world population was reduced from 3 billion to nearly a billion in a matter of hours, the high population reduction made nations across the world to be divided into smaller ones, and abandoning high irradiated areas. Old types of government have returned (absolute monarchy, roman republic, plutocracy, etc), some countries have succumbed but others have rised. Rebels across the nations in the world rised as unrest increased as the years passed. Wars began to be more common than it were before. New corporations were founded, and would actually control the world to do what they desired. Communism remained an active ideology in some parts of the old territories of the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, capitalism lost some influence over the world due to the collapse of the USA, Fascism rised from the shadows of the World War II and nationalists groups began to support wars evolving their nations. Some technologies stayed the same as the 60s technologies (cars and buildings style, arms industry and spacecrafts) but other technologies advanced (such as disease cures, new scientific discoveries, improved computers and radiation cleaning).
