Jose Antianabo Hendriquese Amaral, born March 2, 1796 was one of the founding fathers of The Union of South Africa and its second President.
He was born on his father's tea plantation in 1796. He was raised a devout Roman Catholic and was homeschooled. His upbringing instilled a deep conservativism in him. He grew up believing in the hierarchical order of white men in supreme dominance over blacks and women.
