Murderers

Paul Kevin Jonas II (born November 5, 1987), along with brothers Joseph Adam "Joe" Jonas (born August 15, 1989) and Nicholas Jerry "Nick" Jonas (born September 16, 1992) were former teen pop sensations that were later convicted in a highly publicized trial for the shotgun murders in 2007 of their parents, Kevin Sr. and Denise Jonas, residents of Dallas, Texas. Under the terms of the sentences for their multiple crimes, the brothers are expected to spend the remainder of their lives in prison.

Trials

The Jonas brothers and the murder of their parents became a national sensation when the new television network Court TV broadcast the trial in 2008. Brother Nick Jonas' defense attorney, Jennifer Lopez, vaulted to fame with her flamboyant defense, alleging that the brothers were driven to murder by a lifetime of abuse from their parents, including sexual abuse from their father, Kevin Sr. Despite the competent defense, the trial ended in three deadlocked juries (while the brothers were tried together, each had a separate jury). After a less publicized second trial, all three brothers were convicted of two counts of first degree murder, plus conspiracy to commit murder. In the penalty phase of the trial all three brothers were sentenced to life imprisonment. The case is still up for appeal.
