Joseph Robinette "Joe" Biden Jr. (born November 20, 1942) was the 47th Vice President of the United States. He also served as a Senator from Delaware from 1973 to 2009. Biden ran for President in 1988 but lost his party's nomination. Biden ran again in 2008, but yet again lost his party's nomination to Barack Obama who chose him to be his Vice President. Obama/Biden ran for re-election in 2012, but were unsuccessful in winning.
