Jeffrey Lane Osgood (born February 3, 1946) is an American politician best known for serving as Speaker of the House of Representatives from 2007 to 2011, when he retired from the House after having served his Illinois district for thirty years, first being elected in the Nationalist landslide in 1980. Osgood spent nearly two decades as part of Nationalist leadership, serving as Minority Whip from 1991-1995, Majority Whip from 1995-1999, Minority Leader from 1999-2007, and Speaker until his retirement. Osgood denied intentions to run for President following his retirement.
