The Japanese Civil War (Japanese: 帝国国民戦争 Teikoku-Kokumin Sensō literally: Empire-Nationalist War), known in China as 日本內戰 (lit. Japanese Civil War) and in Russia as Японский гражданской войны, was a civil war in Japan fought between forces loyal to the Emperor of Japan, and forces loyal to the Nationalist Front of Southern Japan.

The war was an ideological dispute due to the dissatisfaction that former Imperial Japanese War Minister Hideki Tojo felt when the Emperor overruled General Tojo's attempt to completely destroy the former British Colony of Singapore.
