Japanese China is an alternate timeline by Wardie1993 which follows what might've possibly happened had Japan maintained her influence in China following WW2, the timeline follows the creation of Japan's Chinese puppet states during the 1930s, the Sino-German Alliance of 1937, Japan joining the Allies in 1939, the Republic of China forming the Axis with Germany and Italy in 1940, the victory of the Anglo-American-Japanese-Collaborationist Allied forces over the Sino-German-Italian Axis forces during the Second Sino-Japanese War, independence referendums in Japan's Chinese puppet states in 1949, and the creation of the Chinese Confederacy, an alliance of the Empire of Japan's independent Chinese client states.

Timeline[]

1895[]

  • Following the First Sino-Japanese War, Japan begins her occupation of Formosa.

1902[]

  • Anglo-Japanese Alliance signed.

1904[]

  • Outbreak of the Russo-Japanese War.

1905[]

  • Japan wins the Russo-Japanese War.

1910[]

  • Japan annexes the Korean Empire.

1914-1918[]

  • Japan fights on the side of the Allied powers during WWI, as per the Anglo-Japanese Alliance

1921[]

  • Britain decides to extend the Anglo-Japanese Alliance for a further two decades

1931[]

  • "Mukden Incident" - A section of Japan's Manchurian Railway is sabotaged, Japan blames nearby Chinese soldiers for the act.
  • In response to the Mukden Incident, Japan invades and conquers Manchuria

1932[]

  • "First Shanghai Incident" - Japanese forces bombard and invade Shanghai, the National Revolutionary Army defends strongly, eventually a ceasefire is arranged as Shanghai is demilitarized.
  • Japan sets up the Empire of Manchukuo under Puyi, the first of Japan's Chinese puppet states.

1933[]

  • Japan conquers Jehol Province, and adds it to the Empire of Manchukuo,

1936[]

  • Creation of the Mongol Military Government under Prince Yondonwangchun.

1937[]

  • The Marco Polo Bridge Incident - Chinese forces repulse a Japanese attack, formal beginning of the Second Sino-Japanese War.
  • The Mongol Military Government is renamed the "Mongol United Autonomous Government".
  • The Republic of China and the Third Reich sign the Sino-German Alliance.
  • In response to the Sino-German Alliance, Britain, France and America strengthen their alliances with Japan.

1939[]

  • Japan forms Mengjiang
  • Outbreak of WW2
  • As per the Sino-German Alliance, the Republic of China launches invasions of Japan's Chinese territory, Japan and her allies fight back, beginning the Chinese Theatre.

1943[]

  • At the suggestion of her Western allies, Japan releases Korea as a puppet state in order to increase the loyalty of the Koreans - the Korean Empire is reborn as a client state of the Empire of Japan.
