The People's Republic of Japan (PRJ) is a communist state that is comprised of the Japanese islands, the island of Formosa and a series of island chains in the West Pacific. The People's Republic is the successor state to the Republic of Japan, which was overthrown at the conclusion of the 1950 Japanese Communist Revolution. As of 2013, the PRJ still claims control over the island of Karafuto, which is officially the ROJ, which claims it is the legitimate government of Japan.

Many geopolitical observers contend that Japan, since the early 2000s, has emerged as a superpower alongside the German Empire.
