World War I
In this timeline, Italy triggered the victory of Central Powers in World War I, keeping occupied French troops on Alps. It gained various border Italian territories from France, and a few scarcely important colonies. It extended its power in the Balkans, by intervening to protect Greece from Ottoman Empire. It detached from Triple Alliance, after being denied the terre irredente from Unites States of Central Europe, and having come to contrast Ottoman Empire. After the war, economical and political crisis spurred the birth of Fascist movement, which marched on Rome in 1922, gaining the power, and establishing a dictature under Benito Mussolini.
World War I losses for Italy amounted to 30,000 on Western Front, 50,000 in Crimea and 20,000 in the Greek-Ottoman War, up to a total of 100,000 military dead.
