Isoroku Yamamoto (April 4, 1884 - October 19, 1970) was a Japanese soldier and later politician who led the Japanese National Party in its flight from the Home Islands to Karafuto, where they established the Republic of Japan in 1950 following the Communist Revolution in Japan. Yamamoto would serve as President of the National Assembly until his death in 1970, during a period in which the President was elected by the Assembly exclusively. Yamamoto's death led to political instability in Karafuto and the eventual recognition of the PRJ by Germany in 1973.
