The Invasion of Chile was a very short war that occurred in 1998.

Background

In May 1998, Chile had been chosen over Argentina as the chair for the South American Council of Nations. This made them very mad, and planned to do something about it. Their generals ended up deciding to go to war.

40 Argentinian tanks and 63,000 soldiers cross the border in central Chile and begin the invasion.

10:00

Tanks engage 6,000 Chilean soldiers in Rancagua.

11:00

Argentinian soldiers enter El Monte (near Santiago).

Second Argentinian invasion force heads for Valparaiso.

12:00

Santiago taken by the Argentinians. They have lost 83 soldiers and 7 tanks. Chile moves the capital to Valparaiso.

13:00

Chileans engage Argentinian soldiers at San Antonio. Chile loses 38 men, but destroys 8 armored vehicles and two tanks. Second invasion force captures Quilpue, but loses 32 men.

14:00

Both invasion forces attack Valparaiso. Heavy guns bombard the city.

15:29

Chile surrenders to Argentina and agree to cede its South American Council seat to Argentina.
