The Republic of New England, commonly referred to simply as New England, is a fedeal republic in the northeastern region of North America. It consists of five provinces and one territory. New England has a population of 30,829,114 and a land area of 71,991.8 square miles, making it one of the most densely populated nations in the world. A large amount of that population are French Canadian immigrants from the dictatorship of the Republic of Quebec, mostly residing in northern Belmont and Maine.
The Republic of New England was formed during the heat of the American Revolution from 1776-1783, when the other colonies refused to help the New England colonies. As a result, Samuel Adams and ofher revolutionists formed the Republic of New England on July 4, 1776, the same day the United States of America was formed. A Constitution was written and ratified by the four New England provinces: Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Connecticut. New England allied with the United States and they won their independence following the American Revolution. Shortly afterwards, New Hampshire merged with the territory disputed with New York and became the Province of Belmont, while the northeastern half of Massachusetts split off and became Maine. Thirty years after the American Revolution, Great Britain waged a war of revenge and invaded New England and the United States. New England successfully repelled the invasion and counter-invaded New Brunswick, annexing it as a territory when Great Britain surrendered in 1815.
