The 1974 Indian general election saw the INC win a large majority.

Following the 1973 general election no stable government had managed to be formed, forcing the need for fresh elections.

The election saw a major victory for the INC which won the largest majority won in the Legislative Assembly thus far whilst all major opposition parties saw significant losses.
