On 5 May 1946, Prince Ellory of Cygnia was inaugurated as Ellory I, the 7th Emperor of the Cygnians. The first such ceremony in Cygnian history, it was attended by an estimated 260,000 people on the South Front of Ellingham Palace.
Various events were included in the inaugural program, including military parades, the enthronement, a state banquet, an inaugural ball, and an inaugural prayer service.
Administered by Chief Justice Arthur G. Cheswick, the imperial oath was taken by Ellory I, in keeping with Article II, Section 1, Clause 5 of the Imperial Constitution. Ellory I was sworn in with his left hand on a newly-printed copy of the Imperial Constitution.
