Herbert Hoover (August 10, 1874 - October 20, 1964) was a politician and president of the United States. The Nationalist Party was fully in charge during the 1920s due to the economic prosperity of the decade. Hoover hoped to take a hands off approach to the economy and allow its success to continue, but the economy would collapse shortly after his election. Hoover attempted to limit the government's involvement in the economy, hoping that it would fix itself, but the economy continued to decline. This would lead to Hoover's and the Nationalists' defeat in the 1932 election by Samuel DeWitt and the Liberals.
